Announcements for the week of Jan. 30

  • Hey everybody! Jeans for Teens has officially begun! Bring your old but usable jeans to the HISP office! It will end next Friday, February 10th. Remember the winning school gets $5,000 so keep on donating to your 2nd period class! Each pair of jeans you bring will count as a CSF hour! If our school donates the most jeans, everyone gets a new pair of jeans from Aeropostale! Thanks!
  • Come meet your new swim coaches at the swimming sign ups on Friday, Jan. 20th at 3:15 by the bleachers in the main gym. Please bring pen/pencil and paper.
  • To those who have not turned in money for Rent-A-Senior, you must turn in your money ASAP, or you will not graduate!
  • Attentions all seniors: Outside of the College Career Center, there is a list of students whose GPAs have been turned in to the California Student Aid Commission to qualify for a CalGrant. If you are a senior and do not see your name on the list, come pick up a GPA release form ASAP!
  • CKM! CKM! Guess what Lions? Wristband are in, Buy one for 2 dollars in the morning, in the front of school, and show your school pride!
  • McClatchy is holding try-outs for the Men's Golf Team! Interested? Attend the sign-up meeting on Tuesday, January 31st at 4:30pm. Meeting will be at Boba Cafe, 5131 Freeport Blvd. Meet the coach, Eduardo Nanca, check out the schedule, get information on fees, and receive all the forms.   • To those who have not turned in money for Rent-A-Senior, you must turn in your money to Mr. Douglas as soon as possible or you will NOT graduate.
  • If you have not picked up your ASVAB results, they are available in the College Career Center.
  • FAFSA filing season has started! In order to qualify for a Cal Grant you need to fill it out before March 2nd. Remember, the earlier you file, the more money you get!
  • Calling all lovers of the outdoors, camping, and teaching. On the Wild Side is a teen run environmental sciences camp for elementary students. Interested in being a camp counselor? Email otws2012@gmail.com to learn more!
  • Hey CKM! It's getting colder outside, and what better way to stay warm than to bundle up with a CKM crew neck sweatshirt?! Sweatshirts will be sold for only $20 at lunch all this week and are available in both red and grey. For more information, talk to Matt Driver or Anthony Saephan!
  • Save a life, donate blood. Parent consent forms are outside of 16A. Return signed consent forms outside of 16A also. Signup sheets will go up on Wednesday. You MUST have parent consent form to sign up. Don't forget to print name and second period class clearly!
  • In Africa millions of people are dying from easily-preventable diseases because health workers do not have reliable transportation. By ensuring health workers have access to vehicles that never break down, Riders for Health is making sure millions of people across Africa receive regular, reliable health care, often for the first time in their lives. Mr. DiLoreto would like to send a special shout out to his 2nd period Geography class who raised and donated $56.75 to Riders for Health to provide 65 families with a year of health care visits.

  • Hey McClatchy, there's a new club on campus. Females Against Negative Stereotypes is having its first meeting this Friday in Ms. Jablonski's room, room 202. Bring your tickets, suggestions, and food to share. Boys and girls are welcome!

  • If you are interested in attending the 9th annual Leslie Campbell Back Youth Leadership Conference at UC Davis in may come to the College Career Center to sign up!
  • All students interested in joining the Track and Field team need to attend the sign up meeting. Thursday, February 2nd in the weight room at 3:15
