Welcome to C.K. McClatchy High School—a California Distinguished High School and
2007-08 Gold Award “School on the Move!”
Our school proudly serves 2,000
students with a mission to prepare students to be academically proficient
learners and technology users, creative critical thinkers, and socially
responsible future citizens in a nurturing and safe environment—one that is
academically challenging with high expectations for all students.
As the “oldest high school” in the city of Sacramento, McClatchy High School has
established a tradition of academic excellence, athletic competitiveness, and
unwavering school spirit and pride in the cardinal red and white.
This excellence and pride is demonstrated everyday in every classroom and with
the achievements of our students, staff, and parents. CKM has met and exceeded
its state Academic Performance Index (API) and the federal Adequate Yearly
Progress (No Child Left Behind) with all students making significant gains. Our
parent volunteers are an integral component of the CKM Lion community. Boasting
the largest PTSA membership of the schools in our district, parents work hard to
support both the academic and extra-curricular activities on our campus!
Students may sample advanced placement courses in all content areas—English, the
sciences, mathematics, world languages, and the social sciences. After-school
options and extra-curricular activities include over 35 clubs, athletic teams
for all seasons, and the performing arts as well. Seniors who are offered
awards, grants, and scholarships in excess of $2 million, attend colleges and
universities from across the country and pursue successful careers achieving
their personal life goals.
Please tour our re-designed website and learn more about the C. K. McClatchy
High School family. Join us for the many fine activities and events sponsored
throughout this school year and experience with us the tradition of excellence
and CKM Lions’ Pride!
