About the Counseling Office

CKM counselors provide services in educational counseling as well as personal/social counseling. The Counseling Office staff is comprised of four guidance counselors, one counseling technician, and a parent volunteer at the reception desk. Student's are assigned a counselor based on the first letter of their last name. This counselor will remain the same for the student’s high school career.

Students are encouraged to visit the Counseling Office with concerns about school, grades, adding or dropping classes, credits for graduation, achievement tests, college plans, or personal problems. To see a counselor, a student must come to the Counseling Office and make an appointment. The Counseling Office staff will then give the student a pass to enable them to leave class to attend the appointment.

Services and resources

The new Zangle service provides on-line access to attendance, assignment, and academic progress information. For a parent or guardian to access “Zangle ParentConnection”, you must appear at the CKM office and provide identification. You will then be given a Zangle ID and password. Students may also access “Zangle StudentCconnection” using the ID and password provided to them. Both links provide the same information.

Unofficial transcript information is available on Zangle. Official transcripts are issued by the Registrar’s Office (located in the main office). Transcript request forms are available there or at the Counseling Office.

If your student is absent for one or more days, phone the Counseling Office and they will forward a homework request to all teachers so work may be picked up during the absence.

Each spring, students complete a course selection form for the following school year. Questions about course planning, college eligibility, and graduation requirements may be discussed with the counselor at this time. The following links provide important information in those areas.

Sacramento City Unified School District graduation requirements

University of California A to G requirements

C.K. McClatchy High School List of A to G qualifying classes

The Counseling Office, together with the Career Center, has assembled an exhaustive list of resources for college-bound students.

Parents are encouraged to phone the Counseling Office with any concerns or questions they may have about their son's/daughter's progress in school.
