Athletic Booster Programs

Competitive Sports

Parents and families of students who participate in a sport at CKM may choose to support the team in many ways.

In addition to lending support by attendance at games, sport-specific parent groups may be asked to coordinate and participate in fundraisers. Examples may include: snack bars, car washes, fireworks sales, and the like. Some booster groups have a registration with an affinity card such as the Quality of Life card offered by Raleys.

Most sports also promote team unity with sales of t-shirts, sweatshirts, and other collateral items, and cap the season’s end with an awards banquet.

For parents who would like to volunteer at their student’s high school, providing support to the team-specific booster group is one easy way to become involved at CKM.

Restore the Roar

In 2007, a group of CKM alumni formed an alumni booster group dedicated to the support of the athletic tradition at McClatchy. Their goal was to tap into the proud “Lion” tradition to engage alumni as supporters for all athletic programs at CKM.

Initially formed to support football, Restore the Roar has expanded its reach to provide resources to all sports. In the fall, founders honored fall athletes at the November “Bell Game” held at the CKM football field.

The group has also supported study halls and tutoring, pre-game meals, and transportation and is hoping to provide scholarships for student athletes as their financial base grows. Restore the Roar offers benefits to members as well, including complimentary admission to selected CKM sporting events.

One need not be an alumni to join Restore the Roar. Learn more by visiting the Restore the Roar website.

MAAP (McClatchy Association for an Athletic Powerhouse)

This non-profit group was formed to raise funds for improvement of the track and field facility. An architect was engaged to produce detailed renderings and site studies, showing how CKM can engineer a state-of-the-art all-weather field. The district’s facilities committee is working in tandem with MAAP to move this project forward, and other sports—such as baseball and soccer—are included in the planning.

Visit CKM’s track and field/cross country team website for more information on MAAP.
